My name is Henry Lawrence Thacker Jr.
But you — you can call me Larry.
I’m the son of a farmer and a teacher.
i started this journey a little over 34 years ago on our family farm in Smithfield, VA. my family lineage in the state of virginia dates back to first arriving in the 1630s. now this is an estimate, but since landing our family has roughly travelled 17.8 miles. which in hind sight may not seem to be a great distance to time ratio, but if you break it down to inches and consider that we have made a living off the land for several generations – won a revolution, survived a civil war, the first great depression, a few world wars — and still continue to pass along a living tradition and a creative drive needed to simply farm – i think you could call that respectable.
i left the farm 14 years ago now. at that time the option to stay and make a living wasn’t an option. i was blessed with a natural tendency to doodle while i thought. i was told to go and get an education. so i did.
along the way i hoped to learn the craft of telling a good story.
this site is a place for that journey to unfold.
please if you feel the need // say hello
